SOMETHING FROM NOTHING: THE ART OF RAP

On Thursday 20 July history was made at the Hammersmith Apollo when hip-hop heavyweights Ice-T, Raekwon, Chuck D and Melle Mel were reunited on stage at the European premiere of Ice-T's directorial debut Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap in London for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

Fans got up close and personal with the superstar rappers at the premiere as their heroes mingled with them before the premiere screening of the hip-hop documentary. They then took to the stage to WOW the crowds with their rapping skills with Ghostface Killah joining them on stage. The film, Q&A and performance were simulcast to over 70 cinemas across the UK and Europe after which the performers performed a freestyle encore for the 1000’s of fans at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Other celebrities who enjoyed the once in a lifetime event included Ice-T’s wife Coco, Tinie Tempah, Pixie Lott, Jeremy Piven and Simon Webb.

Ice-T travels from coast to coast, engaging intimately with the likes of Afrika Bambaataa, Chuck D, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Grandmaster Caz, Ice Cube, KRS-One, Nas, Run-DMC, Snoop Dogg and Yasiin Bey formerly known as Mos Def. What emerges is a mighty soul tribute to the original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation.
